Math homework piling up? Clear it one problem at a time.
Type the problem or upload the page. Each answer comes with the setup, the algebra, and a check, so the next ten problems in the set get easier instead of harder.
A play sold 150 tickets for $1,520. Adult tickets cost $12 and student tickets $8. How many of each were sold?
- Let a = adult tickets and s = student tickets: a + s = 150 and 12a + 8s = 1520.
- Substitute s = 150 − a: 12a + 8(150 − a) = 1520, so 4a + 1200 = 1520.
- 4a = 320, so a = 80 adult tickets.
- s = 150 − 80 = 70 student tickets.
Check: 80 × $12 + 70 × $8 = $960 + $560 = $1,520, and 80 + 70 = 150.
Finish the problem set and keep the method.
Most math assignments are the same idea repeated with new numbers. Once you see one problem solved cleanly, with the reason for each move, the rest of the set usually goes quickly. That is what each solution here is built to give you.
Word problems get translated into variables and equations before any arithmetic, which is the part most students get stuck on. Every solution ends by plugging the answer back in, so you know it holds before you submit it.
If your class uses a particular method, say so. Ask for elimination instead of substitution, factoring instead of the quadratic formula, or the answer as a fraction instead of a decimal, and the solution follows your teacher’s approach.
What students bring from math assignments
Common questions.
Can it do my math homework for me?
It solves each problem you send and shows all the work, so you can complete the assignment. It is meant to help you learn the method, because the same problems come back on quizzes and tests where you are on your own.
Does it work with a photo of my worksheet?
Yes. Upload a clear photo or screenshot and tell it which problem number to solve. It restates the problem first so you can catch a misread exponent or sign.
Will the answer match the format my online homework wants?
Tell it the format, such as exact form, a fraction, or rounded to two decimal places, and it gives the final answer that way.
What if I already tried and got a different answer?
Paste your work. The solver compares it line by line and points to the step where the two answers split apart.
Is it free?
Your first question needs no account. A free account gets several questions a day, and Pro raises the limit for heavy homework weeks.
